Barber wants to be champion with Seedorf

The Spanish rider Hctor Barber, presented as the great new signing for the Seedorf Racing team last week, said that his main objective that he has set for himself is to win the World 125cc Championship and glossed over his controversial exit from the Aspar team.

"Aspar proposed that I raced in 250cc, but nothing changed. My dream now is to win the World Championship with the Seedorf team and to be able to move up a category with this team" said Barber. The young rider, only 17 years old, will race with the Dutch soccer players team for the next two seasons and will have Alvaro Bautista as team mate, and with Aprilia material. "last year I did not fight for the World Championship because the bike was not prepared at the beginning of the season. Aspar should have put things right but he did not do so. I know what has happened there " explained Barber, who bit his tongue concerning the reasons that made him change team.

Barbers exit from the Aspar team brought problems between the rider and the Circuito de la Comunidad Valenciana, an organization which he had signed a contract with until 2004, and which the riders lawyer, Jose Vicente Verd, hopes to resolve in the courts. "We aim for the judges to say that this contract is null and void. It contains a compensation clause that grows every year, and which means that Barber would have to pay the Circuit 600 000 in 2004" says Verd. Barber says, with respect to this matter, that his intention was to continue linked to the circuit that trained him: "It the Circuit that does not want me. I cant do anything.

Susana Lopez, general director of Seedorf Racing, described Hctors signing as "Not a risk at all because of his professional quality" and said that "The controversy associated with his exit from Aspar team was not created by us. The rider thought a lot about it and has seen it as a good move".
