Rossi tested a new engine at Donington

Only five riders - Hayden, Barros, Gibernau, Rossi and Checa stayed at Donington to train after the British GP. Although rain appeared, Yamaha dared to test a new more powerful engine.

Valentino Rossi has been asking for, since the stat of the season, more horse power on his M1 and it seems that he left the test session at the UK circuit satisfied with the new and powerful unit. Yamaha has found in the last weeks the right way, something that has cost them a lot of time. At Le Mans, for example, the leader of the championship tried an engine with more horse power, but he was visibly unhappy with it.

The Italian rider did not want to speak about this extra horse power for his bike, since Yamaha  denies having tested any engine with more power at Donington. Carlos Checas comments -"Now I am going on holiday, but I do not think that the mechanics will have any" -  may give us an idea about the intentions of the Japanese company. Perhaps they are working to have the new unit ready for Brno.

The rain meant that the Repsol Honda Team had to reduce their scheduled test programme. Nicky Hayden completed 24 laps and lex Barros 38. Max Biaggi had scheduled a stay at Donington, but with the absence of new things to test he preferred to go back to Italy. Sete Gibernau completed the five riders training. "It has been a very frustrating day, all the time entering and leaving the pits" said the Catalunyan.
