San Mart�n de Pusa pays tribute to Bautista
�lvaro Bautista will have a street in a village in Toledo - San Mart�n de Pusa - named after him. This place has a fan club of the Seedorf Racing team rider, born 19 years ago in Talavera de la Reina. The opening of the street will take place on 14th August, taking advantage of the summer break in the WSC. The Town Council had decided on this back in April, but it coincided with the rider�s first podium in the 125cc category, obtained in the British GP.
MotoGP riders participate in a charity auction
Riders for Health organised an auction taking advantage of the race at Donington Park. All the riders from MotoGP donated some sports material that they usually use when they compete. A one-piece suit was given by Colin Edwards and reached the excellent figure of �8 000. Valentino Rossi gave some knee pads and a cap and a spectator paid around �1 500 � all in all the auction raised a total of �218 000.
Nicol�s Rodil del Valle passed away
Nicol�s Rodil del Valle, honorary president of the FIM, passed away in Valencia at the age of 88. He occupied the presidency of this international body between 1965 and 1983. He was the promoter of the WSC as we understand it today (TV, sponsors, show, etc.). �Don Nicol�s was the great president of modern times at the FIM. This is a great loss and we will remember him for the great work he carried out developing our sport for a long time� said Francesco Zerbi, current head of the federation when he learnt the news.
Proton will test the KTM engine
Kenny Roberts, president of the Proton Team KR, has confirmed that his team intends to test the new KTM V4 engine at Estoril on 6th September, just one day after the Portuguese GP. Roberts and the Austrian company reached an agreement to collaborate at the Dutch GP. The Proton team, which at the moment has one of the worst engines in the category, is confident that working with KTM they will be more competitive.
Kurtis Roberts could be in Superbike in 2005
Kurtis Roberts has admitted that he is thinking about leaving MotoGP to compete in the AMA Superbike at the end of this season. Ducati has expressed an interest in the USA rider who made his debut this year in the WSC, as he had two very good seasons there in 2002 and 2003. Kurtis has only managed to get points in one GP in MotoGP, in France, where he finished 15th.
