| Tamada gets his first pole |
| Makoto Tamada got his first ever pole in MotoGP at Estoril. The best time seemed to be for Rossi but the Japanese rider at Camel Honda gave an impressive final lap and he was faster than the �Doctor�. �I am very pleased. I would like to thank Bridgestone for developing tyres that are so good� said Tamada. His race was also spectacular, although this time he could not beat Rossi and he had to make do with second place. This was his second podium for Tamada this season. |

| Biaggi and Capirossi accuse each other |
| The incident involving Max Biaggi and Loris Caporossi on the first curve, with the former having to retire, caused mutual accusations from both riders. �You can�t do what he did, not on the first lap of a race� said Capirossi. �I do not accept that he thinks I ride incorrectly on the track. He is the last person who should say that� responded Biaggi, who was the most affected. His fall has ruled him out of the title race because now he is 51 points behind Rossi. |

| Lorenzo gets in the way of a triple for Repsol |
| Jorge Lorenzo was the rider who impeded Repsol riders getting onto the podium in the three categories. Porto�s second place in 250cc and Barros�s third in MotoGP was not accompanied in the smallest category, in spite of Pablo Nieto and Sergio Gadea riding one of their best races of the season for the Master Repsol Team. The smallest of the Nieto almost got his third podium in 2004, but Lorenzo overtook him on the home straight and put him back in fourth position. Gadea was 13th, his best position this season. |

| Melandri appeared dressed up as Spiderman |
| Marco Melandri put a little colour in the race at Estoril, since on the Saturday morning he appeared dressed up as Spiderman. The objective was two fold: on the one hand, he was promoting the film Spiderman 2, about to appear on screens, and on the other, to collect funds for the humanitarian organization Emergency via the auction of his suit, that will take place on 23rd September. The painter Aldo Drudi, who usually designs Valentino Rossi�s helmets, was the creator of the clothes. In the race, Melandri did not have much luck, since he went off the track on the seventh lap. |

| Barros and Biaggi, visit a centre for rehabilitation |
| The Repsol Honda Team rider �lex Barros and his colleague Max Biaggi, from Camel Honda, visited a rehabilitation centre for victims of road accidents before the Portuguese GP. �Sometimes it is difficult to remember that there are many people who are not so lucky as us. Motorcycling has produced many riders like �lex or myself, but obviously it is a very dangerous sport. It is very rewarding to show our solidarity with people not as fortunate as us� said the Italian rider. |
