| Hydraulics |
|
In systems with hydraulic steering. the shaft is inside a cylinder with a piston across it. This cylinder is full of liquid and the piston is in the center of two chambers. Each chamber has a line for entry; when liquid at pressure is introduced into one of these lines. the piston moves towards the other end. facilitating the mechanical work of the steering wheel. The inconvenience is that the pump in the system works continually consuming energy and engine fuel unnecessarily.
