Traction Control System on the drive wheels. This avoids the drive wheels from slipping because of excess power or on very slippery surfaces. The system is responsible for making sure that the speed of the car does not go over the level of adherence and so always transmits the best traction. It starts when the sensors determine that the wheels are slipping and cuts the ignition to reduce the power and to maintain the adherence and traction. When it is working a warning light comes on on the instrument panel to alert the driver of the dangerous nature of the road surface.

Top Dead Centre. This is the highest position that the piston reaches in a cylinder when it changes from its upward movement and begins to descend. At that moment the speed of the piston is zero and the cylinder volume at its minimum. In a complete four-stroke cycle an engine has two Top Dead Centres. One when the compression phasefinishes and the other when the exhaust phase ends.
