The new company will be called "Blue Diamond Truck Company",
and will produce commercial trucks in the USA classes of 6 and 7, although they
will be marketed independently under the label of the mother companies.
This new joint venture in the vehicle sector is a good example
of how the main manufacturers are trying to reduce costs of scale faced with a
drop in sales. The trucks from Ford and Navistar will be made at the factory
that the latter has in Escobedo, Mexico. The aim of both groups is for the
collaboration to get bigger in the next few years and for the moment they have
announced that in a second phase they will make diesel engines
together.
