| Sequential gear change |
|
A gearbox is sequential when the gear selection has to follow a certain sequence (one by one when changing up or down). The selection lever has a longitudinal movement. forward or backward. to change up or down. This system brings faster operation and a more precise working as long movements are avoided and the innaccuracy of a normal gearstick in H eliminated. These gearboxes have an interior structure different to conventional gearboxes and have to use sprockets with straight teeth. Some vehicles have sequential gearboxes when a conventional gearbox is made into an automatic and lets the driver select the speeds by means of a lever.
