| AC Electric motor |
|
This is a type of motor that works with alternating electric current. There are two types: asynchronous and synchronous. The former have a rotor made up of a squirrel cage (electric conductors placed in a cylinder simulating a roulette) that is not fed with electric current. The stator is fed with electric current and creates the variable magnetic fields. This type of motor needs very little maintenance. It is not used in the automotion industry because of its large size. Synchronous motors. on the other hand. have the rotor fed with electric current and creates the variable magnetic fields next to the stator. It needs collector and brushes. which increases its cost and maintenance. but it is small.

Initials corresponding to Automatic Cruise Control. This device lets a driveer keep a constant speed automatically without having to press the accelerator. It is disconnected automatically if the brake pedal is pressed.
