This is the structure that supports the body of a vehicle and the suspensions. In vehicles with a self-supporting chassis. the chassis can be the body itself or be divided in two parts. a chassis on the front suspension and another on the rear suspension. On bikes the metallic structure which holds the bikes parts (crankcase. swingarm. wheels. engine etc.) is known in this way. Its most important function is to keep the front and rear suspensions in place.
