These are shafts with masses displaced from their turning centre and that turn at the same time as the crankshaft. avoiding vibrations in the engine. The imbalances that appear in the crankshaft when turning are compensated by the imbalances that the balancing shaft creates. So. the engines works without hardly any vibration. The balancing shaft can rotate in the same direction as the crankshaft or in the opposite direction.
