Bottom dead centre. This is the lowest position that the piston reaches in a cylinder when it changes from going down to begin its upward movement. At that moment the speed of the piston is zero and the volume in the cylinder at its maximum. In a complete four-stroke cycle two bottom dead centres are reached. One when the admission phase finishes and the other when the expansion phase ends.
