Name:

Vacuometer
Apparatus that measures the depression or vacuum in the admission manifold after the accelerator butterfly valve.

Valve
Part responsible for opening and closing the entrances and exits to a cylinder. It consists of a head that leans on the seat of the combustion chamber and which by means of an vstago joins the spring that keeps it closed and puts it in contact with the camshaft that opens it. There are two types: admission when they are placed at the air entrance and exhaust when they are at the exit for the burnt gases. They are manufactured out of steel. although some sports engines have titanium ones. Those for the exhaust have to be more robust because they work at higher temperatures than those for admission (800). The size of the exhaust valves are smaller because they need less space for the exit of the gases. Their control can be mechanical. electric and electronic.

Valve crossing
This is the moment when the two valves on a four-stroke engine are both open. Usually. this period of time appears near to the top dead centre of the stroke. that is to say when combustion doesn't take place.
