| Expansion valve |
|
This is used in air conditioning to force the coolant liquid to turn gaseous. The gas. so that it can stay in this state. picks up the atmospheric heat that surrounds it. The valve is placed at the entrance of the evaporator and is usually controlled by the expansion of a gas stored inside a bulb in contact with the external surface of the evaporator. Depending on the temperature. the hole where the gas passes grows or shrinks. The valve divides the areas of low and high pressure in air conditioning equipment.

Also known as combustion. (See combustion).

| Extreme pressure |
|
Name given to oils dedicated to the lubrication of parts that work at high pressure. This is the case of the gears in the gearbox or of the differential. Extreme pressure oils withstand high tensions between their molecules so that it is difficult to break these bonds. They serve to protect surfaces with high pressures.
