|
This is the pressure. lower than that of the atmosphere. that can occur in some channels such as the engine intake during the phase when the piston descends.

| Desemulsion |
|
Property that oils have and is their possibility of completely separating out the same volume of water when mixed.

| Desmodromic distribution |
|
Term used by Ducati for their valve opening system on the distribution. The camshafts have two levers per valve: one opens it and the other closes it. The opening lever pushes it up whilst the closing lever lifts it with its fulcrum on a fork. This system is used to avoid the flotation that is produced on the valves when the engine is at high revs. The disadvantage is that it adds complexity t the construction and maintenance.
